Beginning 1 January 2026, all foreign travelers must have valid travel medical insurance that covers unexpected health-related expenses while in Georgia.
Border officers may request proof of insurance during entry procedures at:

- Seaports
No insurance = possible entry denial, delays, or requirement to purchase insurance immediately at the border.
Who Must Have Travel Insurance?
The rule applies to:

Minimum Coverage Requirements
Your insurance policy must be in Georgian and English language include emergency medical coverage with at least:
30 000 Georgian Lari (approximately 10 000 Euro) medical expense limit

- Urgent Hospitalization
- Medical evacuation
- Repatriation
How to Show Proof at the Border
During entry procedures, you may be asked to present:
- A printed policy, or
- A digital PDF on your phone
Border police must be able to verify that:
